Kids naturally find ways to have fun on the trampoline – they’ll bounce for hours, having a blast and getting exercise at the same time. But if you’re ready to take the fun to the next level, there are numerous trampoline games for kids of all ages. Most trampoline games are very simple and don’t require any special equipment or skills. Usually, all you need is the trampoline and an appetite for fun. In fact, many of the best games are based on traditional games you probably remember playing as a child – but on a bounce mat instead. You don’t need a bunch of people, either. The games below all involve just one person on the bounce mat at a time (sometimes with others outside the trampoline), ensuring that the fun is always safe and controlled. Here are 3 trampoline games we like. 1) Piggy in the Middle Here’s a classic game that’s even more fun on a trampoline! Ideally, you’ll need three or more players, but only one stays on the trampoline, while the rest stay outside. The outside players must throw a ball to each other over top of the trampoline. The object of the game is for the player on the trampoline (a.k.a. the “piggy”) to catch the ball without leaving the trampoline. When they catch it, the person that threw the ball then gets a turn as the piggy. 2) Marco Polo Who says Marco Polo needs to be played in a swimming pool? A bouncy trampoline makes this game even more silly and challenging. You need at least 2 players to play, but it’s more fun with more people. Similar to “Piggy in the Middle,” only one player stays on the bounce mat – that’s Player 1. The other players stay outside the trampoline, but must always be touching it somehow – with a hand, a foot, whatever works. (With an in-ground trampoline, it can be fun for all players to remain on their knees.) Player 1 closes their eyes and shouts “Marco.” The rest of the players outside the trampoline must then shout “Polo.” Player 1 must then follow the sound of their voices to try to tag one of the other players, without opening their eyes. The other players can move around the perimeter of the trampoline, but they must not let go of it. When someone is tagged, it becomes that person’s turn to enter the trampoline. 3) Horse This is a neat trampoline-version of the classic basketball game. You’ll need a bouncy ball, two or more players and something to shoot the ball into: it doesn’t have to be a basketball hoop – it can be an empty trash can, a plastic storage bin, etc. In this game, each player takes a turn on the trampoline shooting at the “hoop,” which is placed outside the trampoline. Players shoot from different locations on the mat, while also incorporating silly bounce maneuvers. If the player makes the shot, each other player then takes a turn and must mimic the same silly maneuver and location. Any players who miss the shot get the letter H – the first letter in the word HORSE. Players take turns making trick shots, and whenever they can’t replicate someone’s successful shot, they get the next letter. Once they’ve gotten every letter in the word HORSE, they’re out of the game, and the last player standing wins. Need a trampoline? Let’s get jumping!
